La Crosse Man Sentenced to 72 Months for Distributing Methamphetamine
A 33-year-old La Crosse man has been sentenced to 72 months in prison for distributing methamphetamine. Cody Stough, 33, La Crosse, Wisconsin was sentenced on September 15, 2021 by U.S. District Judge William M. Conley.
The charge against Stough was the result of an investigation conducted by the Richland-Iowa-Grant Drug Task Force. Investigators had been monitoring Stough after a confidential informant contacted them on November 19, 2020 stating that Stough was willing to sell a quarter pound of methamphetamine.
Stough was arrested after meeting with the informant in a parking lot in Dodgeville, Wisconsin. During a post-arrest interview, Stough admitted to selling methamphetamine to the informant.
The informant had given investigators a plastic sandwich bag containing 77 grams of a substance that tested positive for methamphetamine. The substance was found after the informant walked away from the meeting with Stough.
The investigators had also given the informant a recording device and prerecorded currency, which was found in Stough’s vehicle after his arrest.
Assistant U.S. Attorney Chadwick M. Elgersma prosecuted this case.
