Felony Assault in Adair County Leaves One Man Behind Bars
Cody Wayne Tye, a 34-year-old resident of Watts, Oklahoma, has been sentenced to time served plus three years supervised release for one count of Assault of a Spouse, Intimate Partner, and Dating Partner in Indian Country.
The crime took place on September 18, 2022, in an apartment in Westville, Oklahoma, within the boundaries of the Cherokee Nation Reservation in Adair County. According to investigators, Tye assaulted the victim, wrapping both hands around their neck and shoving them against a wall, causing bruising and abrasions.
The investigation into this crime was led by the Federal Bureau of Investigation, in conjunction with the Watts Police Department and the Westville Police Department.
Tye pleaded guilty to the charge on March 11, 2024. The Honorable John F. Heil, III, U.S. District Judge in the United States District Court for the Eastern District of Oklahoma, presided over the hearing.
Assistant U.S. Attorneys Rachel Geizura and Edith Singer represented the United States in this case.
