Denver – A ruthless attacker has been locked away for a record 141-month sentence after preying on Brinks employees in Colorado. Jahlique Rahmir Dorsey, a 25-year-old from Colorado Springs, was handed down the severe punishment by United States District Judge Nina Y. Wang.
The U.S. Attorney’s Office for the District of Colorado revealed that Dorsey and an accomplice targeted two Brinks employees during armed robberies at Wells Fargo banks in Colorado Springs and Aurora. The victims were robbed at gunpoint, with one attack resulting in a punch to the mouth during a struggle.
In the first incident on September 26, 2023, Dorsey and his co-conspirator stole a bag filled with rubber bands as they had robbed the employee before he could service an ATM. The second robbery occurred just over a week later, where they made off with cash from the Brinks bag.
United States Attorney Peter McNeilly emphasized the gravity of Dorsey’s actions, stating, “Reducing violent crime throughout Colorado is one of our top priorities.” FBI Denver Special Agent in Charge Mark Michalek praised the Rocky Mountain Safe Streets Task Force for their coordinated efforts in bringing such offenders to justice.
The plea agreement details how the FBI Rocky Mountain Safe Streets Task Force, working with local law enforcement agencies, identified and apprehended Dorsey. The co-defendant is scheduled to be sentenced on July 30, 2025. Special Assistant United States Attorney Leah Perczak handled the prosecution.
