Jeremiah Morrison, Child Pornography, Ohio 2023

A Columbus, Ohio man has been brought to justice for his heinous crimes against children. Jeremiah Morrison, 38, of Columbus, pleaded guilty to distributing child pornography, possessing child pornography, and transporting obscene matter.

Morrison’s crimes were uncovered by the Franklin County Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force, who received information in April 2023 that he was uploading child pornography. A search warrant executed in June 2023 revealed that Morrison’s cell phone contained 3,000 images and 900 videos of child sexual abuse material. The images and videos depicted the sexual assault of infants and children ages 0 to 6 years old, including a video showing an adult man sexually assaulting a three-month-old baby.

In addition to the child sexual abuse material, investigators also discovered numerous images and videos depicting torture, mutilation, and deceased children. One image showed an approximately 6-year-old girl who was nude and dismembered. Morrison’s phone was found to be rife with depraved and disturbing content, a grim reminder of the depths of human depravity.

Morrison has a history of crimes against children, having been previously convicted in 2012 for filming an 11-year-old boy under a bathroom stall at the Columbus Metropolitan Library. He was a registered sex offender at the time of his arrest in September 2023, and has remained in custody since.

Morrison faces a sentence of at least 15 years and up to life in prison. Sentencing will be determined by the Court at a future hearing based on the advisory sentencing guidelines and other statutory factors. The case is a stark reminder of the dangers of the dark web and the importance of continued vigilance in the fight against child exploitation.

The guilty plea was announced by Kenneth L. Parker, United States Attorney for the Southern District of Ohio; Shawn Gibson, Acting Special Agent in Charge, Homeland Security Investigations (HSI); Franklin County Sheriff Dallas Baldwin; and FBI Special Agent in Charge Elena Iatarola, among other members of the Franklin County Internet Crimes Against Children (ICAC) Task Force. Assistant United States Attorney Emily Czerniejewski is representing the United States in this case.
