Methamphetamine Trafficking Lands Woman in Prison
A 30-year-old Kanawha County woman has been sentenced to five years in prison for her involvement in a significant methamphetamine trafficking operation.
Raechel Cooper, 30, was found to be in possession of over 350 grams of methamphetamine during a search of her East Bank residence on April 9, 2018.
Law enforcement officers discovered eight bags of methamphetamine hidden in a hollowed-out teddy bear in Cooper’s vehicle, along with a substantial amount of the illicit substance inside her residence.
Cooper pleaded guilty to the federal charge of possession with intent to distribute five grams or more of methamphetamine and was subsequently sentenced to 60 months in prison by Senior United States District Judge John T. Copenhaver, Jr.
The investigation into Cooper’s activities was led by the Metropolitan Drug Enforcement Network Team (MDENT), which was commended by Acting United States Attorney Lisa G. Johnston for their diligent work.
Assistant United States Attorney Nick Miller handled the prosecution of the case, which has resulted in Cooper’s five-year prison sentence.
The U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Southern District of West Virginia has a copy of the press release available on their website. Additional information on this case can be found on PACER by searching for Case No. 2:21-cr-00036.
