Corey Chrispin Henry, Domestic Assault, Arizona 2019

Grimy Times Exclusive:

PHOENIX, Ariz. – A Cibecue man has been sentenced to prison for a brutal domestic assault that left his significant other shaken. On October 8, Corey Chrispin Henry, 25, was sentenced to 24 months in prison, followed by 36 months of supervised release by United States District Judge Dominic W. Lanza.

Henry’s crime took place on September 30, 2018 on the Fort Apache Indian Reservation. He pleaded guilty to the felony offense of Assault by Strangling or Suffocating last November. The victim, whose identity has not been released, was severely injured in the assault.

Henry, a registered member of the White Mountain Apache Tribe, faces a lengthy sentence for his violent crime. The Federal Bureau of Investigation conducted the investigation in this case, and Assistant U.S. Attorney Anthony Church handled the prosecution.

The assault on the Fort Apache Indian Reservation highlights the prevalence of domestic violence in Native American communities. According to the National Indian Women’s Resource Center, Native American women are at a higher risk of experiencing domestic violence than women in any other demographic.

The U.S. Attorney’s Office, District of Arizona, has been working tirelessly to combat domestic violence and other violent crimes in the state. For more information on their efforts, visit http://www.justice.gov/usao/az/.
