Bank Robber on the Loose: Corey D. Ware Charged with Three Bank Robberies

Louisville, KY – In a shocking turn of events, a federal grand jury in Louisville, Kentucky, returned a five-count indictment on November 21, 2023, charging Corey D. Ware, 28, with three bank robberies, possession of a firearm during a bank robbery, and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon.

According to the indictment, Corey D. Ware robbed two banks in Jefferson County on September 16, 2022, and another bank in Jefferson County on September 22, 2022. Ware also possessed a firearm after being convicted of a felony offense in the past.

The indictment states that Ware was convicted of trafficking in a controlled substance, first degree (three counts), trafficking in a controlled substance, second degree, and trafficking in marijuana with a firearm on December 20, 2017, in Jefferson Circuit Court.

Ware made his initial court appearance yesterday before a U.S. Magistrate Judge of the U.S. District Court for the Western District of Kentucky. He remains in federal custody pending trial.

If convicted, Corey D. Ware faces a mandatory minimum sentence of 5 years and a maximum sentence of 80 years in prison. A federal district court judge will determine any sentence after considering the sentencing guidelines and other statutory factors.

Assistant U.S. Attorney Mac Shannon is prosecuting this case. The investigation is being led by LMPD, FBI, and HSI with assistance from the ATF.
