Cory Foster Charged with Attempted Escape in Philadelphia

A 28-year-old detainee at the Federal Detention Center (FDC) in Philadelphia has been charged with attempting to escape, announced United States Attorney Zane David Memeger.

Cory Foster, a detainee at the FDC, was charged today by indictment with attempted escape, according to the indictment. On October 14, 2015, Foster, who had been indicted and was being detained at the FDC, attempted to escape.

If convicted, the defendant faces a maximum possible sentence of five years in prison, a possible fine, up to three years of supervised release, and a $100 special assessment.

The case was investigated by the Federal Bureau of Investigation. It is being prosecuted by Assistant United States Attorney Jose Arteaga.

An Indictment is an accusation. A defendant is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty.

According to the indictment, Foster’s attempted escape on October 14, 2015, was a serious offense. The maximum sentence of five years in prison, a possible fine, up to three years of supervised release, and a $100 special assessment serve as a reminder of the severity of this crime.
