A 30-year-old Council Bluffs man has been sentenced to 63 months in prison for being a prohibited person in possession of a firearm. Dylan Michael Joseph Hoffman pleaded guilty to the offense in March of 2021 and was sentenced by United States District Court Judge Stephanie M. Rose on Thursday, August 12, 2021.
Hoffman’s term of imprisonment will be followed by three years of supervised release, according to court documents. The investigation into Hoffman’s case was led by the Council Bluffs Police Department and the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives.
The case against Hoffman was announced by Acting United States Attorney Richard D. Westphal of the Southern District of Iowa. Westphal praised the work of the investigating agencies, stating that their efforts were crucial in bringing the case to a successful conclusion.
