Counterfeit ID Ring Busted in East Texas
TYLER, Texas – Two East Texas men have been brought to justice after pleading guilty to producing and transferring counterfeit identification documents.
Mario Eleuterio Garcia-Sevilla, 44, of Grand Saline, Texas, and Juan Valazquez Delgadillo, 50, of Garland, Texas, were sentenced to federal prison for their crimes. Garcia-Sevilla received a 37-month sentence, while Delgadillo was sentenced to 30 months.
The conspiracy, which involved producing and transferring fake Social Security cards and Permanent Residence cards, began in January 2019. Garcia-Sevilla obtained the documents from Delgadillo and then sold them to individuals across the East Texas area.
The investigation, led by the Federal Bureau of Investigation, Smith County Sheriff’s Office, and Texas Department of Public Safety, uncovered a complex web of deceit and corruption. The case was prosecuted by Assistant United States Attorney Alan R. Jackson.
Assistant United States Attorney Nicholas Ganjei praised the hard work and dedication of the law enforcement agencies involved in the case. “Identification document fraud is a direct threat to the security of the United States and its citizens,” he said. “Disruption of criminal enterprises that aim to compromise document security is, and should be, a primary focus of federal law enforcement.”
Garcia-Sevilla and Delgadillo were indicted by a federal grand jury on February 27, 2020, after a lengthy investigation. Their conviction serves as a reminder that those who engage in such activities will be held accountable for their crimes.
The sentencing of Garcia-Sevilla and Delgadillo brings an end to a complex case that highlights the importance of law enforcement’s efforts to combat identity theft and document fraud.
