Gaston Man Sentenced in Counterfeit Medication Case: Counterfeit Medication Kingpin Sentenced to 6.5 Years
Arthur Fleming Moler, a 51-year-old man from Gaston, South Carolina, has been sentenced to 78 months in prison for his role in trafficking over $5 million worth of counterfeit erectile dysfunction medication, including Viagra and Cialis. Moler operated his business, South Carolina Liquidations, from a warehouse in Columbia, South Carolina.

The case against Moler began when United States Customs agents discovered counterfeit golf equipment being shipped from China to his warehouse. When investigators entered the warehouse, they found hundreds of counterfeit designer handbags, sunglasses, electronic equipment, and over 230,000 counterfeit erectile dysfunction pills.

According to the investigation, Moler sold and shipped the counterfeit goods and medications from his business. The case was investigated by the Department of Homeland Security – Immigration and Customs Enforcement, the South Carolina Secretary of State’s Office, and the United States Postal Inspection Service. Assistant United States Attorney T. DeWayne Pearson of the Columbia office prosecuted the case.

The counterfeit medications were sold to unsuspecting customers, who were deceived into believing they were purchasing genuine products. Moler’s actions not only harmed the victims but also undermined the trust in the medical industry.

The sentencing of Moler serves as a warning to those who engage in such illicit activities. Bill Nettles, United States Attorney for the District of South Carolina, emphasized the importance of protecting the public from counterfeit goods and medications.
