Cousins Guilty of Incest
La Plant, South Dakota – A shocking case of incest came to a close as two cousins were sentenced for their involvement in the crime.
Nicholas Ray White Eagle, 28, and Fawn Lynn Scott, 22, were both found guilty of incest in March 2015, after being indicted by a federal grand jury in January 2015.
According to court documents, the two first cousins had consensual sexual intercourse on or about October 21, 2013, producing a child with a genetic disability. This was not their first child together, as they had already produced two other children prior to the incident.
The case was investigated by the Cheyenne River Sioux Tribe Law Enforcement Services, with Assistant U.S. Attorney Jay Miller handling the prosecution.
On March 11, 2015, White Eagle and Scott were sentenced by U.S. District Judge Roberto A. Lange. White Eagle was ordered to serve 12 months and one day in custody, followed by 1 year of supervised release. Scott, on the other hand, was sentenced to 4 months in custody, followed by 2 years of supervised release. Both defendants were also ordered to pay a $100 special assessment to the Federal Crime Victims Fund.
The couple was immediately taken into custody by the U.S. Marshals Service and will serve their sentences accordingly.
This case is a disturbing reminder of the dangers of incest and the importance of enforcing laws that protect vulnerable individuals, particularly children. The Grimy Times will continue to monitor the case and provide updates as more information becomes available.
