Terrence D. Howell, a 43-year-old Youngstown man, has been sentenced to 10 years in prison for his role in distributing crack cocaine in the Mahoning Valley area.
According to court documents, Howell possessed more than 28 grams of crack cocaine on April 30, 2014, with the intent to distribute the drugs. He also used a home on Arch Street in Youngstown to distribute and manufacture crack cocaine from February through April 2014.
Howell previously pleaded guilty to possession with intent to distribute crack cocaine and maintaining a drug house.
The investigation, led by the ATF and the Mahoning Valley Law Enforcement Task Force, revealed that Howell’s operation was a significant threat to the community.
“We will continue to work with our partners to lock up those who attempt to flood Youngstown with drugs,” said U.S. Attorney Steven M. Dettelbach.
Assistant U.S. Attorney David M. Toepfer prosecuted the case, which was the result of a thorough investigation by the ATF and the Mahoning Valley Law Enforcement Task Force.
ATF Special Agent in Charge Donald Soranno praised the collaborative efforts of law enforcement agencies in bringing the case to a close. “Cooperative efforts with our law enforcement partners enhance our ability to remove violent criminals from the streets and make our communities safer.”
The conviction is a significant blow to the local drug trade, and law enforcement officials are hopeful that it will send a message to those involved in similar activities.
