Albany Man Convicted of Conspiracy to Distribute Deadly Narcotics
Fulton County resident Dion Underwood, 45, has been found guilty of conspiracy to distribute heroin and cocaine in the Capital Region, including Albany, Schenectady, and Montgomery Counties.
According to court documents, Underwood supervised a group of individuals involved in the distribution of cocaine and heroin between January and December 2021.
Underwood admitted to his involvement in the conspiracy during a guilty plea hearing before United States District Judge Glenn T. Suddaby.
The guilty plea comes after a thorough investigation by the U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) New York Division, led by Special Agent in Charge Frank A. Tarantino III.
As a result of his guilty plea, Underwood faces a minimum of 5 years in prison, a maximum of 40 years in prison, a fine of up to $5 million, and a term of supervised release of at least 4 years and up to life.
Underwood also agreed to forfeit $39,403 seized by federal agents, as proceeds of the conspiracy.
The case is being prosecuted by Assistant U.S. Attorney Benjamin S. Clark.
Sentencing is scheduled for March 30, 2023.
