Youngstown’s streets have been quieter since Terrence D. Howell, the city’s crack cocaine kingpin, was sentenced to a decade behind bars.
The 43-year-old was handed down a 10-year prison term for his role in the distribution and manufacturing of crack cocaine, according to law enforcement officials.
Howell had pleaded guilty to possession with intent to distribute more than 28 grams of crack cocaine. His criminal activities were centered on a Youngstown residence on Arch Street, where he operated as a drug den between February and April 2014.
‘We will continue to work with our partners to lock up those who attempt to flood Youngstown with drugs,’ said U.S. Attorney Steven M. Dettelbach, underscoring the community’s resolve to combat drug trafficking.
ATF Special Agent in Charge Donald Soranno commended the Mahoning Valley Law Enforcement Task Force for their relentless pursuit of justice. ‘Cooperative efforts with our law enforcement partners enhance our ability to remove violent criminals from the streets and make our communities safer,’ he said.
The prosecution was led by Assistant U.S. Attorney David M. Toepfer, who brought closure to this case following an investigation by the ATF and the Mahoning Valley Law Enforcement Task Force.
