A Wisconsin man has been held accountable for a violent assault at a South Dakota hospital. Craig Maskil, 58, was sentenced to 12 months of supervised probation for Assault by Striking, Beating, and Wounding.
The crime occurred on July 11, 2014, at the Rosebud Indian Health Service Hospital on the Rosebud Sioux Indian Reservation. Maskil, a doctor at the hospital, had a disagreement with another doctor and struck the victim in the head with his fists.
The case was investigated by the Federal Bureau of Investigation, the Rosebud Sioux Tribe Law Enforcement Services, and the Todd County Sheriff’s Office. Assistant U.S. Attorney Tim Maher prosecuted the case.
