PROVIDENCE – In a stunning revelation of criminal activity, Anthony Stevens, 37, from Cranston, Rhode Island, has today admitted to trafficking tens-of-thousands of methamphetamine-laced pills. The admission came as part of his plea in U.S. District Court, where he faced charges related to the distribution of these dangerous substances. Acting United States Attorney Sara Miron Bloom announced the charges.
Stevens, who is scheduled for sentencing on October 30, 2025, has been charged with two counts of possession with intent to distribute 500 grams or more of methamphetamine. The federal district judge will determine his sentence based on the U.S. Sentencing Guidelines and other statutory factors following the hearing.
The investigation into Stevens began in November 2023 when the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF) opened a probe into the trafficking of counterfeit Adderall pills. Simultaneously, the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) gathered intelligence indicating that Stevens had possession of a substantial quantity of these counterfeit tablets.
Following a nine-month investigation, the DEA secured a total of 30,226 methamphetamine-laced pills from Stevens’s vehicle and a Providence residence he used as a stash house. Additionally, $3,360 in cash was seized during the operation.
The Assistant U.S. Attorney Julie White is handling the prosecution of this case, while both the DEA and ATF are credited with conducting the thorough investigation that led to Stevens’s plea.
This incident serves as a stark reminder of the ongoing threat posed by drug trafficking in our communities and underscores the commitment of federal agencies to combat such activities.
