Marcus Brian Curry, Mail Fraud, Texas 2014

Allen, Texas – In a stunning revelation from the Eastern District of Texas, Marcus Brian Curry, a 35-year-old real estate magnate, has been hit with hard-hitting charges for orchestrating a $2.4 million mail fraud scheme.

Curry, owner and operator of South Coast Group, L.P., based in Allen, Texas, pleaded guilty before U.S. Magistrate Judge Don D. Bush today. According to court documents, Curry’s fraudulent activities spanned from June 2006 to February 2014.

The alleged scam enticed distressed homeowners with promises of credit protection by transferring their home titles to Curry. He falsely claimed he would handle mortgage payments, yet secretly sold the properties to new buyers without disclosing the existing liens. Curry pocketed the proceeds while failing to pay the original lien holders, causing a staggering loss of approximately $2,362,350.

Curry’s deceitful tactics involved financing the mortgages himself and routing payments through a private mailbox under his control. This allowed him to conceal the true ownership and the ongoing mortgage obligations from unsuspecting buyers.

The scam artist now faces up to 20 years in federal prison at sentencing, with no date set as of yet. Assistant U.S. Attorney Christopher A. Eason is spearheading the prosecution, while the Federal Bureau of Investigation is conducting the investigation.

Curry’s fall from grace serves as a stark reminder of the dangers of real estate fraud and the lengths some will go to for financial gain. The justice system has delivered its verdict, leaving Curry to answer for his actions in court.
