Boston – The D Street Projects gang is reeling as Junior Martinez-Perello, 25, an alleged associate, faces major heat for selling a firearm and fentanyl to an undercover cop.
Today’s arrest follows an alleged deal gone awry, where Martinez-Perello was charged with one count of possession with intent to distribute, and distribution of, the deadly fentanyl. The suspect was nabbed this morning and has been ordered detained pending trial after his initial court appearance in Worcester.
According to the gritty details, Martinez-Perello reportedly communicated with the undercover agent about a drug and gun deal set for May 30, 2025. He bragged about always having firearms on hand and promised half-kilogram quantities of fentanyl soon enough.
The meeting turned into an unexpected show-and-tell as Martinez-Perello demonstrated the safety feature of the firearm he intended to sell, even taking it off safe and firing a round into the floor. His boldness landed him in hot water, with the potential for up to 20 years behind bars if convicted.
United States Attorney Leah B. Foley and Scott Riordan, Acting Special Agent in Charge of the ATF’s Boston Field Division, led today’s announcement. Assistant U.S. Attorney John T. Dawley is handling the prosecution. This case is part of Operation Take Back America, a DOJ initiative targeting illegal immigration, cartels, and violent crime.
The charges against Martinez-Perello are serious allegations; he remains innocent until proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt in court.
