Dairon Jissan Rodriguez-Escalante, Possession with Intent to Distribute Fentanyl, Arizona 2024

PHOENIX, Ariz. – A deadly drug trafficking operation has come to an end for Dairon Jissan Rodriguez-Escalante, a 27-year-old man from Maricopa, Arizona. Rodriguez-Escalante was sentenced to 33 months in prison, followed by three years of supervised release, for his role in selling counterfeit M30 pills containing fentanyl.

In 2021, Rodriguez-Escalante was identified through social media as a source of supply for counterfeit M30 pills containing fentanyl. On two separate occasions in October and November 2021, he sold over 650 grams of blue M30 pills containing fentanyl to U.S. Postal Inspection Service and Drug Enforcement Administration agents.

The United States Postal Inspection Service, Drug Enforcement Administration-St. Louis Office, Peoria Police Department, and the Mesa Police Department Forensic Laboratory conducted the investigation in this case. The United States Attorney’s Office, District of Arizona, Phoenix, handled the prosecution.

Rodriguez-Escalante pleaded guilty to Possession with the Intent to Distribute Fentanyl on March 27, 2024. His sentence is a result of his guilty plea.

The case highlights the ongoing threat of fentanyl trafficking in Arizona. The counterfeit M30 pills sold by Rodriguez-Escalante contained fentanyl, a highly addictive and often deadly opioid.
