Dairon Rivera, Fentanyl Distribution, Massachusetts 2022

BOSTON – A former member of the Fitchburg Chapter of the Massachusetts Almighty Latin King and Queen Nation (‘Latin Kings’) has been brought to justice for his role in drug distribution. Dairon Rivera, a/k/a ‘King Mafia,’ 27, was sentenced to two years in prison and three years of supervised release on drug distribution charges.

Rivera pleaded guilty to one count of conspiracy to distribute and possess with intent to distribute fentanyl in December 2020. The charges stem from a series of audio/video recorded sales of over 40 grams of fentanyl to a cooperating witness between April and December of 2017. The Latin Kings, a violent criminal enterprise with thousands of members across the United States, uses drug distribution to generate revenue and engages in violence against witnesses and rival gangs to further its influence and protect its turf.

As part of a federal grand jury indictment in December 2019, 62 leaders, members, and associates of the Latin Kings were charged with racketeering conspiracy, drug conspiracy, and firearms charges. Rivera is the 22nd defendant sentenced in the case.

The investigation was led by the FBI’s Boston Field Division, with valuable assistance provided by the FBI North Shore Gang Task Force and the Bristol County and Suffolk County District Attorney’s Offices. Assistant U.S. Attorneys Philip A. Mallard and Lauren Graber prosecuted the case.

The details contained in the charging documents are allegations. The remaining defendants are presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt in a court of law.

This case is part of an Organized Crime Drug Enforcement Task Forces (OCDETF) operation, which identifies, disrupts, and dismantles the highest-level criminal organizations that threaten the United States using a prosecutor-led, intelligence-driven, multi-agency approach.

Rivera’s sentence serves as a reminder of the severe consequences of engaging in drug trafficking and gang activity. The city of Boston and the state of Massachusetts will continue to work together to combat these threats and bring those responsible to justice.
