Dajanaye Drake Sentenced to 24 Months for Obstructing Federal Sex Trafficking Statute in Houston, TX

In a shocking turn of events, Dajanaye Drake, a 29-year-old woman from Missouri City, Texas, has been sentenced to 24 months in prison for obstructing the enforcement of the federal criminal sex trafficking statute.

According to court documents, Drake knowingly encouraged her associates to sign false affidavits claiming that Randi Lewis, a co-conspirator, played no role in recruiting and trafficking a 13-year-old minor victim. This obstruction of justice occurred between June 25, 2021, and November 28, 2021.

Drake’s actions were part of a larger scheme to undermine the investigation into the sex trafficking ring, which was led by Lewis. The scheme involved recruiting minors to engage in commercial sex acts, and Drake’s obstruction of justice hindered the efforts of law enforcement to bring the perpetrators to justice.

The case is part of Project Safe Childhood, a nationwide initiative launched in May 2006 to combat the growing epidemic of child sexual exploitation and abuse. U.S. Attorney Duane A. Evans praised the work of the Federal Bureau of Investigation and the Jefferson Parish Sheriff’s Office in this matter.

Assistant United States Attorney Jordan Ginsberg, Chief of the Public Corruption Unit, is in charge of the prosecution. The case against Randi Lewis is still pending, with a scheduled sentencing date of March 8, 2023.

The sentencing of Dajanaye Drake serves as a reminder of the serious consequences of obstructing justice and the importance of holding individuals accountable for their actions in cases involving sex trafficking and child exploitation.
