Dale Ingold, Child Pornography, North Carolina 2022

Raleigh man Dale Ingold, 67, has been sentenced to 20 years in prison for possessing child pornography. Ingold was found to have accessed the illicit material since 1989, with Homeland Security discovering 67,581 images and 1,505 videos on his digital devices.

Ingold pleaded guilty on December 13, 2021, to Possession of Child Pornography. His employer reported the activity to the Cary Police Department, who were initially lied to by Ingold.

Ingold initially denied accessing child pornography, but later admitted his wrongdoing to law enforcement. He allowed agents to collect digital devices from his home, which were later analyzed and found to contain the large cache of images and videos depicting the sexual abuse of children.

U.S. Attorney Michael Easley announced Ingold’s sentence, which was handed down by U.S. District Judge Louise W. Flanagan. The Cary Police Department and the Department of Homeland Security investigated the case, with Assistant U.S. Attorney Charity Wilson prosecuting the case.

Ingold’s sentence includes a lifetime of supervised release. The case was prosecuted as part of an ongoing effort to combat child exploitation and protect children from abuse.
