Dallas Man Sentenced to 10 Years in Enticement Case
A 60-year-old Dallas man has been sentenced to 120 months in federal prison for attempting to entice a minor, announced U.S. Attorney John Parker of the Northern District of Texas. Jack Marty Taylor, 60, was convicted at trial in November 2015 of one count of attempted enticement of a minor.
According to the investigation, Taylor posted a Backpage advertisement in September 2014, seeking a younger man for companionship. He offered to provide a safe place to live, meals, and spending money in exchange for companionship and love. However, his true intentions were revealed when he began exchanging sexually explicit text messages with a 14-year-old boy, whom he had posed as.
Taylor repeatedly suggested meeting the boy in person, but the boy avoided him each time. In a shocking admission, Taylor even texted the boy, ‘I was scared of you at first. I thought maybe you were a cop.’ Law enforcement arrested Taylor on February 4, 2015, at the agreed meeting location.
The case marks the 10th anniversary of the Project Safe Childhood (PSC) initiative, which aims to combat technology-facilitated sexual exploitation crimes against children. Since FY 2011, the Justice Department has filed 20,260 PSC cases against 19,111 defendants, including prosecutions of child sex trafficking, sexual abuse of a minor, and child pornography offenses.
The Garland Police Department and the FBI investigated the case, with Assistant U.S. Attorney Camille Sparks leading the prosecution. Taylor has been in federal custody since his conviction.
