Dallas Shannon, False Statement During Firearm Purchase, Iowa 2022

Dallas Shannon, a 47-year-old man from Independence, Iowa, has been sentenced to five years of supervised release after making a false statement during the purchase of a firearm. The crime took place on February 14, 2022, at a hardware store in Independence, Iowa.

Shannon, a resident of Independence, Iowa, knowingly made a false representation of an ATF Form 447 in connection with the purchase of a firearm. He stated that he was not an unlawful user of marijuana on the form, despite knowing that he was an unlawful user at the time.

On September 28, 2022, Shannon pleaded guilty to making a false statement during the purchase of a firearm. His sentencing occurred on January 23, 2023, in Cedar Rapids, where United States District Court Judge C.J. Williams handed down the sentence.
