Dalton Cole Sherman, Child Pornography Production, Missouri 2015

Former Buffalo Elementary School teacher’s assistant Dalton Cole Sherman, 19, of Buffalo, Missouri, has been charged with producing and possessing child pornography. Sherman was a teacher’s assistant at the DA Mallory Elementary School in Buffalo at the time of the offense.

On June 11, 2015, Sherman allegedly used two minors, identified in the indictment as ‘Jane Doe,’ to produce child pornography. He is also charged with possessing child pornography and using a Samsung pen camera and a Nook tablet to commit the alleged offenses.

The federal indictment contains a forfeiture allegation, which would require Sherman to forfeit the aforementioned devices to the government. United States Attorney Tammy Dickinson cautioned that the charges contained in this indictment are simply accusations and not evidence of guilt.

Evidence supporting the charges must be presented to a federal trial jury, whose duty is to determine guilt or innocence. The case is being prosecuted by Assistant U.S. Attorney Ami Harshad Miller.

This case is part of Project Safe Childhood, a nationwide initiative launched in May 2006 to combat the growing epidemic of child sexual exploitation and abuse. The Dallas County, Missouri, Sheriff’s Department, the State Technical Assistance Team, and the FBI investigated the case.

As part of Project Safe Childhood, the U.S. government locates, apprehends, and prosecutes individuals who sexually exploit children, and identifies and rescues victims.
