Ocala Man Sentenced to 32 Months in Federal Prison for Possessing a Firearm as a Convicted Felon

Ocala, FL – In a move aimed at reducing gun violence and making neighborhoods safer, Senior United States District Judge John Antoon II has sentenced D’Andra Miller to 32 months in federal prison for possessing a firearm as a convicted felon.

According to court records, Miller was found with a firearm on two different occasions, with DNA comparison analysis confirming the presence of Miller’s DNA on both of the firearms.

Miller’s prior felony conviction for burglary of a conveyance renders him prohibited from possessing firearms or ammunition under federal law.

The case was investigated by the Ocala Police Department and the Federal Bureau of Investigation, with Assistant United States Attorney Tyrie K. Boyer prosecuting the case.

This case is part of Project Safe Neighborhoods (PSN), a program aimed at reducing violent crime and gun violence by bringing together all levels of law enforcement and the communities they serve.

As part of this initiative, the U.S. government has launched a violent crime reduction strategy based on four core principles: fostering trust and legitimacy in our communities, supporting community-based organizations that help prevent violence from occurring, setting focused and strategic enforcement priorities, and measuring the results.

The 22-year-old Ocala resident had pleaded guilty on May 24, 2022, to the charges.
