Rochester, N.Y. – In a shocking case of firearm trafficking, 27-year-old Danelle Christine Wilson of Tioga, Pennsylvania, has been sentenced to 21 months in prison for her involvement in the possession and sale of a stolen firearm.
According to officials, Wilson and her co-defendant, Ciera Leann Bennett, were arrested in April 2012 after an investigation by the Pennsylvania State Police into the theft of a .38 caliber revolver from a resident in Tioga, Pennsylvania.
On April 26, 2012, Wilson and Bennett transported the stolen firearm from Tioga, Pennsylvania, to Elmira, NY and sold it in order to buy drugs. The firearm was later recovered in Ithaca, NY on December 31, 2012.
Ballistic testing revealed that the firearm had been used in an officer-related shooting in October 2012, which seriously injured an Ithaca police officer.
Wilson and Bennett were both convicted and sentenced to prison time. Wilson received 21 months, while Bennett received 16 months.
The sentencing is the culmination of an investigation by the Federal Bureau of Investigation and the Pennsylvania State Police.
Wilson’s conviction serves as a stark reminder of the dangers of firearm trafficking and the consequences of engaging in such activities. The case highlights the importance of cooperation between law enforcement agencies in combating firearm-related crimes.
