A Canton man was sentenced to 12 years in prison for distributing and possessing child pornography, according to a recent case in the state of Ohio.

Daniel Joseph Kitlak, 37, of Canton, Ohio, was sentenced on Friday, October 10, 2022 by U.S. District Judge Pamela A. Barker to 12 years in prison after he pleaded guilty to receipt and distribution of visual depictions of minors engaged in sexually explicit conduct and possession of child pornography.

Kitlak, a resident of Canton, Ohio, had admitted to distributing approximately 252 images and videos of child pornography online in October 2021. Following the discovery, law enforcement authorities executed a search warrant at Kitlak’s residence, seizing multiple electronic devices containing hundreds of files of child pornography, including at least one image involving a minor under the age of 12.

The case was investigated by the Department of Homeland Security Investigations (HSI) and was prosecuted by Assistant U.S. Attorney Margaret A. Kane.

According to the U.S. Attorney’s office, the investigation revealed that Kitlak had distributed the child pornography online through various means, including online forums and social media platforms.
