Daniel Loughman, Methamphetamine Trafficking, Massachusetts 2024

A Wakefield man has pleaded guilty to his role in a large-scale methamphetamine trafficking ring operating in Eastern Massachusetts.

Daniel Loughman, 40, also known as ‘Swiss,’ pleaded guilty to one count of possession with intent to distribute 50 grams and more of methamphetamine and one count of conspiracy to distribute and to possess with intent to distribute 50 grams and more of methamphetamine.

The charges provide for a sentence of no less than 10 years and up to life in prison, five years of supervised release and a fine of up to $10 million.

Loughman is the third defendant to plead guilty in the case. Danielle Steenbruggen, of Peabody, pleaded guilty in August 2025 and was sentenced to 93 months in prison in November 2025. James Snow, of Tewkesbury, pleaded guilty on Dec. 1, 2025 and is scheduled to be sentenced on March 5, 2026.

Approximately 10 pounds of methamphetamine and four firearms were seized throughout the investigation from controlled purchases, motor vehicle stops and search warrants.

Loughman is scheduled to be sentenced on March 10, 2025.

Assistant U.S. Attorney John Dawley of the Organized Crime & Gang Unit is prosecuting the case.

The details contained in the charging documents are allegations. The remaining defendant is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt in a court of law.
