Daniel R. McCaffrey, Child Pornography, Florida 2026

PENSACOLA, FLORIDA – A former Eglin Air Force Base resident has been sentenced to 35 years in federal prison for his role in transporting child pornography, possessing child pornography, and abusing a minor female.

Daniel R. McCaffrey, 41, was found guilty by a federal jury of these charges after a trial. The evidence presented during the trial revealed that McCaffrey maintained a child pornography collection on a hidden micro SD card in his residence, where he lived with his then wife and two minor daughters. His wife was active duty United States Air Force at the time.

The victim testified that McCaffrey personally inflicted abuse upon her. The child pornography he possessed reflected his penchant for minor females under the age of 12 years old. The investigation was a joint effort by the Federal Bureau of Investigation, the Florida Department of Law Enforcement, Homeland Security Investigations, and the Office of Special Investigations of the United States Air Force.

McCaffrey’s sentence will be followed by a lifetime term of supervised release and a requirement to register as a sex offender for the rest of his life. U.S. Attorney John P. Heekin stated that there is no penalty severe enough for those who harm children, and his office will continue to aggressively pursue maximum punishment for such crimes. Heekin praised the agents and investigators involved in bringing McCaffrey to justice.

FBI Jacksonville Special Agent in Charge Jason Carley emphasized the FBI’s commitment to protecting vulnerable individuals, especially children. He stated that those who abuse innocent children will be identified and brought to justice. The case was brought as part of Project Safe Childhood, a nationwide initiative to combat the growing epidemic of child sexual exploitation and abuse. The United States Attorney’s Office for the Northern District of Florida is one of the offices that serve as the nation’s principal litigators under the direction of the Attorney General.

As a result of this case, McCaffrey will have to spend the next 35 years in federal prison, a sentence that reflects the severity of his crimes. However, it cannot undo the harm he has inflicted upon the victim and her family. The case is a reminder that the authorities will continue to work tirelessly to bring perpetrators of such heinous crimes to justice.
