Daniel Stephen King, Possessing Firearms and Ammunition as a Convicted Felon, Florida 2022

KISSIMMEE, FL – A Kissimmee man is facing a decade behind bars after a frantic 911 call exposed a massive stockpile of weapons and ammunition in his home, authorities announced Wednesday. Daniel Stephen King, 28, was found guilty of possessing firearms and ammunition as a convicted felon, a charge carrying a maximum sentence of 10 years in federal prison. Sentencing is scheduled for January 23, 2023.

The trouble began April 23, 2022, when the Osceola County Sheriff’s Office responded to a domestic disturbance at King’s residence. A woman and her four-year-old daughter bolted from the house, fearing for their safety. Deputies were immediately told King was heavily armed – wearing a bulletproof vest and surrounded by guns and ammo. A standoff ensued, lasting approximately two hours before King surrendered without further incident.

A subsequent search of the residence revealed a disturbing arsenal. Nine firearms were seized, including three rifles, alongside hundreds of rounds of ammunition. Investigators also found a rifle safe, multiple lockboxes filled with guns, magazines, and a large container of ammunition. King, already a convicted felon and on probation, was legally prohibited from possessing any of these weapons.

“This wasn’t just a few hunting rifles,” a source within the investigation told Grimy Times. “This guy was preparing for something. The sheer volume of ammunition, the ballistic vest… it painted a very clear picture. Luckily, deputies were able to de-escalate the situation before anyone got hurt.”

As part of the guilty verdict, King will be forced to forfeit all seized firearms and ammunition. The investigation was a joint effort between the Osceola County Sheriff’s Office, the Federal Bureau of Investigation, and the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives. Assistant United States Attorney John M. Gardella is prosecuting the case.

Federal officials say the case falls under Project Safe Neighborhoods (PSN), a violent crime reduction strategy focused on community partnerships and strategic enforcement. The Department of Justice launched a strengthened PSN program in May 2021, emphasizing trust-building, community support, and measurable results. Whether this program will actually make a dent in Florida’s rising crime rates remains to be seen, but for now, one less armed felon is off the streets of Kissimmee.
