Rodney Allen Farrar, a 36-year-old Baltimore man, was sentenced to 100 months in federal prison for his role in a multi-state firearm trafficking operation. Farrar conspired with co-conspirator Brian Keith Adams to traffic firearms from North and South Carolina to the Baltimore area. The operation was busted after law enforcement suspected Adams of trafficking firearms, leading to an investigation that revealed Farrar’s involvement. Between February and June 2024, the co-conspirators sold over 100 firearms to an undercover agent, with the intention of shipping them to New Jersey to sell to individuals who could not lawfully purchase firearms.
The investigation, led by the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives (ATF), involved physical surveillance and transactions with undercover agents. Farrar, who does not hold a federal firearms license and is prohibited from possessing firearms, admitted to knowing the firearms were being trafficked illegally. The case is a significant win for law enforcement in the fight against firearm trafficking, which poses a significant threat to public safety.
The sentence was announced by U.S. Attorney Kelly O. Hayes, along with Special Agent in Charge Charles Doerrer of the ATF, and other law enforcement officials. The case was part of a larger effort to combat firearm trafficking in the region, involving multiple agencies including the U.S. Postal Inspection Service, Homeland Security Investigations, Maryland State Police, and local police departments.
Farrar’s sentence reflects the seriousness of the crime and the commitment of law enforcement to holding those responsible accountable. The case serves as a reminder of the dangers of firearm trafficking and the importance of cooperation between law enforcement agencies to combat this threat.
