⏱ 2 min read

Tarif Jahmil Alston, 43, of Baltimore, and Gleybar Josue Ramirez-Clemente, 21, of Frederick, were charged with sexually exploiting children in a nationwide operation called Iron Pursuit, which took place from April 1 to April 30. The operation, led by the Department of Justice, aimed to find child victims of sex abuse and arrest child sex predators. The two Maryland men were among the over 350 child sexual abuse offenders arrested during the operation.

The operation was a coordinated effort between the FBI, U.S. Attorneys’ offices, and other law enforcement agencies across the country. All 56 FBI field offices participated in the takedown effort, which resulted in the location of over 200 child victims and the arrest of over 350 child sexual abuse offenders.

Acting Attorney General Todd Blanche and FBI Director Kash Patel announced the results of the operation, warning child predators that they will be hunted down and held accountable. The operation was part of the Administration for Children and Families’ recognition of April as National Child Abuse Prevention Month.

The charges against Alston and Ramirez-Clemente are a result of the nationwide effort to combat child sex abuse and exploitation. The case is being prosecuted by the U.S. Attorney for the District of Maryland, Kelly O. Hayes.
