A pharmacy insider allegedly spent eight years secretly spying on nearly 200 people, including co-workers and patients, through a Maryland medical system’s computers.
Matthew Bathula, 41, of Clarksville, used various cyber intrusion techniques to obtain victims’ usernames, passwords, cookies, images, videos, and other data between July 2016 and September 2024.
The FBI’s swift and thorough response identified and notified each of the 195 victims, located around the country, in just four months.
Law enforcement officials expressed outrage over Bathula’s actions, deeming them a ‘reprehensible invasion of privacy’ and a betrayal of trust.
Bathula faces two counts of unauthorized access to a protected computer and one count of aggravated identity theft.
