Tiago Alexandre Sousa-Martins, Destruction of Government Property, Maryland 2025

⏱ 2 min read

A brazen attack on law enforcement in Baltimore’s streets left two government vehicles in shambles. On December 24, 2025, ICE officers attempted to apprehend 30-year-old Tiago Alexandre Sousa-Martins for a suspected immigration violation.

As the officers boxed him in, Sousa-Martins refused to comply, breaking his own driver’s side window in a desperate bid to escape. He then deliberately rammed his van into the government vehicles, causing significant damage.

A Magistrate Judge handed down a sentence of 103 days, time served, for the destruction of government property. Sousa-Martins was also ordered to pay $1,000 in restitution.

The case marks a disturbing escalation of violent resistance against law enforcement. As part of Operation Take Back America, authorities continue to crack down on violent crime and transnational threats.
