A 33-year-old man from Bradford, Pennsylvania, has been sentenced to 72 months in jail, to be followed by five years of supervised release, for violating federal laws relating to the sexual exploitation of children.
Sutton, whose full name is Daniel Thomas Sutton, received computer images and movies depicting minors, some as young as toddlers and infants, engaging in sexually explicit conduct.
This case was brought as part of Project Safe Childhood, a nationwide initiative launched in May 2006 by the federal government to combat the growing epidemic of child sexual exploitation and abuse.
According to the United States Attorney’s Office, Sutton will also have to pay $2,000 in restitution to each of three separate victims and a $5,100 special assessment.
Sutton was sentenced by Senior United States District Judge David S. Cercone in the United States District Court for the Western District of Pennsylvania.
The Federal Bureau of Investigation and the Pennsylvania State Police were commended by United States Attorney Cindy K. Chung for their investigation leading to the successful prosecution of Sutton.
Assistant United States Attorney Christian A. Trabold prosecuted this case on behalf of the government.
The case against Sutton was part of a larger effort to combat the sexual exploitation of children in Pennsylvania and across the United States.
