ERIE, Pa. – In a disturbing case of child sex exploitation, Robert Mark Dyer IV, 32, of Erie, Pennsylvania, has been sentenced to 48 months in prison and 10 years supervised release for violating federal laws relating to the sexual exploitation of children.
According to information presented to the court, from November 2020 to April 2022, Dyer possessed and accessed with intent to view visual images and videos in individual computer files depicting prepubescent minors engaging in sexually explicit conduct.
The case was brought as part of Project Safe Childhood, a nationwide initiative launched in May 2006 by the Department of Justice to combat the growing epidemic of child sexual exploitation and abuse.
United States Attorney Troy Rivetti commended the Federal Bureau of Investigation, the Pennsylvania State Police, and the Lower Makefield Police Department for the investigation leading to the successful prosecution of Dyer.
Assistant United States Attorney Christian A. Trabold prosecuted this case on behalf of the government.
As part of his sentence, Dyer will face 48 months in prison and 10 years supervised release. His case is a stark reminder of the importance of protecting our children from exploitation and abuse.
