A 21-year-old man from Rochester, Pennsylvania, has been charged with a serious crime.
Elijah Winchester, a resident of Rochester, has been indicted by a federal grand jury in Pittsburgh on a charge of possession of material depicting the sexual exploitation of a minor, announced United States Attorney Scott W. Brady today.
The one-count indictment, returned on October 30, named Winchester as the sole defendant. According to the indictment, on or about May 21, 2018, Winchester possessed videos depicting a minor engaged in sexually explicit conduct.
The law provides for a maximum total sentence of 10 years in prison, a fine of $250,000.00 or both. Under the Federal Sentencing Guidelines, the actual sentence imposed would be based upon the seriousness of the offense and the prior criminal history, if any, of the defendant.
Assistant United States Attorney Lee J. Karl is prosecuting this case on behalf of the government. The Western Pennsylvania Violent Crimes Against Children Task Force, the Beaver Police Department and the Beaver County District Attorney’s Office conducted the investigation leading to the Indictment in this case.
An indictment is an accusation. A defendant is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty.
Winchester’s case has sent shockwaves through the community, with many calling for justice to be served.
