Pittsburgh, PA – In a shocking turn of events, a resident of Eighty-Four, Pennsylvania, has been sentenced to a significant prison term for his involvement in structuring financial transactions. Daniel Young, 42, was handed down a 63-month sentence by United States District Judge David S. Cercone, to be followed by three years of supervised release.
The sentencing stems from Young’s conviction on charges of conspiracy and structuring financial transactions. According to the investigation, Young participated in a conspiracy with co-defendants Kimberly Ostrander and Dennis Young, which involved structuring financial transactions with financial institutions and businesses to avoid the filing of Currency Transaction Reports. These reports are required to be filed when financial institutions and businesses receive in excess of $10,000 in cash.
Young, who is currently serving a 12- to 24-year sentence for drug trafficking, used a variety of bank accounts and individuals to structure the cash payments. The total amount of cash involved in the scheme was estimated to be around $260,000, which was derived from his drug trafficking activities. This money was used to purchase a home, heavy equipment, and a vehicle.
The investigation into Young’s activities was a collaborative effort between the Internal Revenue Service-Criminal Investigations and the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives. United States Attorney David J. Hickton commended the agencies for their tireless work in bringing Young to justice.
Assistant United States Attorney Brendan T. Conway prosecuted the case on behalf of the government. Young’s sentencing marks a significant blow to those involved in financial crimes and serves as a reminder of the consequences of such actions.
The total amount of money and equipment forfeited by Young was estimated to be around $440,000. This forfeiture is a significant development in the case and demonstrates the government’s commitment to holding individuals accountable for their actions.
As the Grimy Times continues to investigate this case, it has become clear that Young’s actions were part of a larger conspiracy. The full extent of the conspiracy and the involvement of other individuals remain to be seen, but one thing is certain – those involved in financial crimes will be held accountable.
