HARRISBURG – In a shocking turn of events, Dante Kaleek Darby, a 32-year-old Shippensburg man, has been sentenced to 10 years in prison for distributing cocaine hydrochloride in Franklin County.
According to United States Attorney Peter Smith, Darby previously pleaded guilty to distribution of cocaine hydrochloride in December 2015. Darby, in his plea, acknowledged distributing cocaine hydrochloride in Franklin County on four separate occasions – September 2012, March 2013, August 2013, and October 2013.
The investigation into Darby’s activities was carried out by the Federal Bureau of Investigation, the Pennsylvania State Police, and the Franklin County Drug Task Force. Assistant United States Attorney Meredith A. Taylor prosecuted the case.
Darby’s sentencing comes after he was indicted by a federal grand jury in Harrisburg in May 2014. The indictment marked a significant milestone in the investigation, which had been ongoing for several years.
As part of his plea agreement, Darby acknowledged that he had distributed cocaine hydrochloride on multiple occasions, putting the lives of countless individuals at risk. His actions were a blatant disregard for the law and the safety of his community.
