Danyer Manuel Alarcon Rodriguez, Skimming Gas Pumps, Nevada 2018

A 61-month prison sentence has been handed down to Danyer Manuel Alarcon Rodriguez, a Las Vegas man who was found guilty of using skimming devices at gas pumps to steal thousands of credit and debit card numbers.

According to court documents, between November 2018 and June 2019, Danyer Manuel Alarcon Rodriguez was a key member in a conspiracy to install skimmer devices at numerous gas pumps in Nevada and California. He installed at least 27 skimmer devices that obtained at least 481 stolen card numbers.

After obtaining the stolen credit and debit card account information, Danyer Manuel Alarcon Rodriguez and his co-conspirators would re-encode that account information onto the magnetic strips of counterfeit cards, and then use the counterfeit cards to fraudulently make purchases and ATM cash withdrawals.

Collectively, Danyer Manuel Alarcon Rodriguez and his co-conspirators obtained at least 3,120 stolen credit and debit card account numbers and caused a loss of at least $157,695.51.

The charges against Danyer Manuel Alarcon Rodriguez include one count of conspiracy, one count of use of unauthorized access device, and one count of aggravated identity theft. He pleaded guilty in June 2021.

U.S. District Judge Jennifer A. Dorsey sentenced Danyer Manuel Alarcon Rodriguez to 61 months in prison, three years of supervised release, and ordered restitution.

This case was investigated by the U.S. Secret Service, with Assistant U.S. Attorney Eric Schmale prosecuting the case.
