Daren Lewis Doffee, Methamphetamine and Gun Charges, Alabama 2018

A Foley man has been sentenced to 70 months in prison for his role in a methamphetamine trafficking operation. Daren Lewis Doffee, 36, was convicted of possession with intent to distribute methamphetamine and using, carrying or possessing a firearm in furtherance of or in relation to a drug trafficking felony.

According to court documents, Doffee was driving a vehicle on County Road 12 in Foley when he was stopped by police for a traffic violation. During the stop, he informed the officer that he had a gun in the vehicle, and a search revealed a loaded .9mm pistol with two extra magazines in the center console.

Further investigation by the Foley Police Department, the Daphne Police Department, and the FBI Safe Streets Task Force uncovered methamphetamine, a scale, notes that appeared to represent records of prior drug sales, and $1,810 in cash.

Doffee was indicted on federal charges in November 2017 and pleaded guilty in March 2018. United States District Court Judge Kristi K. Dubose sentenced him to 70 months’ imprisonment, consisting of 60 months on the gun charge, with an additional 10 months on the drug charge, to run consecutively.

When Doffee is released from imprisonment, he will serve six years of supervised release, during which he will undergo drug and alcohol abuse treatment. He was also ordered to pay $200 in mandatory special assessments, but no fine was imposed.

The case was investigated by the Foley Police Department, the Daphne Police Department, and the FBI Safe Streets Task Force. It was prosecuted in the United States Attorney’s Office by Assistant United States Attorney Gloria Bedwell.

This case is a reminder of the ongoing efforts to combat methamphetamine trafficking in our communities. We will continue to work tirelessly to disrupt and dismantle these operations and bring those responsible to justice.
