Darnell Peace, 33, of Philadelphia, Charged with Possession of Firearm
A Philadelphia felon has been charged with possessing a firearm and controlled substances, announced Acting United States Attorney Louis D. Lappen.
Darnell Peace, 33, of Philadelphia, PA, was charged today by Indictment with 1 count of possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, and 1 count of possession of controlled substances.
The indictment alleges that on or about September 17, 2016, Peace, who has a prior felony conviction, possessed a HI-Point 9mm Model C, silver and black, semi-automatic firearm, bearing serial number P038255, loaded with 5, 9mm rounds of ammunition in the magazine and one in the chamber.
Prior to the alleged crime, Peace was in possession of two controlled substances.
If convicted, the defendant faces a maximum of 10 years imprisonment.
The case was investigated by the Bureau of Alcohol Tobacco and Firearms, and is being prosecuted by Assistant United States Attorney Virgil B. Walker.
It is a reminder that an indictment is merely an accusation, and a defendant is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty.
