Davenport Man Lands 9 Years for Cocaine Ring

A Davenport man has been sentenced to serve 9 years in prison for his role in a cocaine trafficking operation.

Jose Antonio Garcia, 44, was sentenced on August 15, 2014, by United States District Judge John A. Jarvey for possession with intent to distribute cocaine. Garcia was also ordered to serve three years of supervised release following his imprisonment and to pay $100 towards the Crime Victims Fund.

The case against Garcia involved the distribution of cocaine in the Davenport area over the course of several years, dating back to the early 2000’s. Garcia’s operation came to an end on June 17, 2013, when law enforcement officers executed a search warrant at a residence associated with Garcia and his spouse, co-defendant Leann Perez.

Agents located over one-half kilogram of cocaine, digital scales, and packaging material at the residence. The case was investigated by the Davenport Police Department and the Iowa Department of Narcotics Enforcement. The United States Attorney’s Office for the Southern District of Iowa prosecuted the case.
