Davenport Man Sentenced to 10 Years for Child Porn
A 46-year-old man from Davenport, Florida, has been sentenced to 10 years in federal prison for distributing child pornography.
Tampa, Florida – U.S. District Judge James D. Whittemore handed down the sentence to Preston D. Wilbur yesterday. Wilbur had pleaded guilty to the crime on November 14, 2012.
According to court documents, Wilbur distributed thousands of images and videos depicting child pornography to undercover law enforcement officers over the Internet. When authorities executed a search warrant at his residence, they seized numerous computers, hard drives, and USB flash drives containing child pornography.
A forensic examination of the seized property revealed a staggering 300,000 images and 8,389 videos of child pornography. The sheer scale of the material is a stark reminder of the severity of the crime.
The investigation into Wilbur’s activities was conducted by U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement’s (ICE) Homeland Security Investigations (HSI). The case was prosecuted by Assistant United States Attorney Stacie B. Harris.
This case is just another example of the growing epidemic of child sexual exploitation and abuse that Project Safe Childhood aims to combat. Launched in May 2006, Project Safe Childhood marshals federal, state, and local resources to locate, apprehend, and prosecute individuals who sexually exploit children, and to identify and rescue victims.
