DENVER – In a disturbing case out of Colorado, a former Front Range Community College student has been indicted on two counts of being a felon in possession of a firearm.
According to authorities, David Aaron Moscow, 30, of Fort Collins, Colorado, was taken into custody on October 23, 2015, after a clinical neuropsychologist reported him to law enforcement for making threatening comments about shooting people at the college and burning it down.
Investigations revealed that Moscow had a prior felony conviction for Aggravated DUI in 2007 in Arizona, making him a felon in possession of a firearm. During the search of his residence and vehicle, authorities found an AR-15, fully loaded with a 30-round clip, hundreds of rounds of ammunition, a Glock .40 caliber handgun, and controlled substances, including hydrocodone and Ecstasy.
Moscow has been charged with two counts of being a felon in possession of a firearm, each punishable by not more than 10 years in prison and a fine of up to $250,000. He has also been charged with multiple state law violations, including Felony Menacing, Violation of Bail Bond Conditions, and Possession of a Controlled Substance.
The investigation was conducted by Fort Collins Police Services, the ATF, and Front Range Community College Security. The case is being prosecuted by Assistant U.S. Attorney Rebecca Weber.
Moscow has entered a not guilty plea and is being held in the custody of U.S. Marshals without bond.
The charges against Moscow are allegations, and he is presumed innocent until proven guilty.
