A chilling bank robbery shook Salem, West Virginia, in November 2020. David Alan Gill, a 61-year-old man from Salem, West Virginia, has admitted to his involvement in the heist. Acting U.S. Attorney Randolph J. Bernard announced the guilty plea.
Gill pleaded guilty to one count of ‘Accessory After the Fact – Bank Robbery.’ He confessed to aiding Clint Monroe Utter in evading authorities. Utter is accused of stealing $69,100 from Summit Community Bank in Salem, West Virginia, on November 17, 2020.
Utter allegedly robbed the bank, making off with a substantial sum of money. Gill’s involvement has been confirmed, and he is now facing the consequences of his actions. Gill could face up to 10 years of incarceration and a fine of up to $125,000.
The Federal Sentencing Guidelines will determine the actual sentence imposed, taking into account the seriousness of the offense and Gill’s prior criminal history. Assistant U.S. Attorney Brandon S. Flower is prosecuting the case on behalf of the government.
The FBI and the Harrison County Sheriff’s Office investigated the case, working tirelessly to bring the perpetrator to justice. U.S. Magistrate Judge Michael Aloi presided over the proceeding.
