David Amadin, Felon in Possession of a Firearm, Massachusetts 2018

A Boston man’s attempt to flee law enforcement officers ultimately led to his downfall as he was found in possession of a stolen firearm, according to a recent federal court case.

David Amadin, 27, was sentenced to 63 months in prison and three years of supervised release by U.S. District Court Judge F. Dennis Saylor IV for being a felon in possession of a firearm and ammunition.

On July 9, 2018, Amadin attempted to flee from law enforcement officers and was found in possession of a Springfield Armory Model 45 ACP XD5 .45 caliber semi-automatic pistol that contained five rounds of ammunition. The firearm had previously been reported stolen.

Amadin’s possession of the firearm was illegal due to his previous conviction of a crime punishable by more than one year in prison. Despite this, Amadin continued to possess the firearm, putting himself and others at risk.

The case was prosecuted by Lelling’s Organized Crime and Gang Unit, and U.S. Attorney Andrew E. Lelling and Boston Police Commissioner William Gross made the announcement today.

The sentencing of Amadin serves as a reminder of the consequences of committing firearm-related crimes. As a convicted felon, Amadin was prohibited from possessing a firearm and ammunition, and his actions ultimately led to his downfall.

Amadin’s case is a prime example of the importance of community safety and the need for strict laws to prevent firearm-related crimes. The sentencing of Amadin should serve as a deterrent to others who may be considering committing similar crimes.
