ERIE, Pa. – A wave of counterfeit money swept through Western Pennsylvania, leaving a trail of deception in its wake, but one man’s scheme has finally been brought to justice.
David Edward Johnson, a 51-year-old former resident of Ohio, pleaded guilty and was sentenced in federal court to one year and one day in jail, along with being ordered to make $4,000 in restitution.
Johnson’s crime spree, which spanned eight separate dates, resulted in the passing of 65 counterfeit United States Federal Reserve notes in Western Pennsylvania.
The case was prosecuted by Assistant United States Attorney Christian A. Trabold on behalf of the government. United States Attorney Scott W.
